MTM Critical Metals (ASX:MTM)

MTM Critical Metals (ASX: MTM) is developing potentially disruptive technology for the recovery of metals from ores and waste material sources. It is using a physical phenomenon known as Flash Joule Heating (FJH) that can enhance the process of metal recovery by speeding up the process and lowering the energy inputs involved.

On 11 December 2024 we spoke with Michael Walshe, CEO of MTM Critical Metals (ASX:MTM), about how MTM fills a very urgent need for many countries, including the US, to secure the supply of critical metals, like gallium, germanium and indium, now that market leader China is restricting exports of these metals.

MTM has the technology to efficiently and quickly extract such metals from things like ultra high value electronic waste that, up till now, usually gets landfilled.

The company recently signed a collaboration deal with US-based Indium Corp to help the US to limit its reliability on foreign sources of critical metals. Based on this deal and many others that are likely to follow, we believe the company has a very bright future!

On 13 September 2024 we spoke to Michael Walshe, CEO of MTM Critical Metals (ASX: MTM) about the multiple ways in which its Flash Joule Heating can be used and the enormous commercial potential it sees in being able to markedly cut the price of lithium and rare earths production. We also talked about the provenance of the technology in the Rice University laboratory of Professor James Tour.
